10-Minute Shooting Form Drill
Goal: consistent shooting mechanics — make shots from close before moving back.
The BEEF method
- Balance: feet shoulder-width, slight bend in the knees
- Eyes: look at the rim (front of the rim or just over)
- Elbow: shooting elbow under the ball, aligned with the basket
- Follow-through: snap the wrist, hold the follow-through (“reach into the cookie jar”)
1) One-hand form shots (4 min)
- Stand 3 feet from the basket. Shoot with one hand only (shooting hand). Guide hand off to the side. 20 makes.
2) Regular form shots (3 min)
- Add the guide hand. Shoot from 5–8 feet. Focus on arc and rotation. 15 makes.
3) Free throws (3 min)
- Same form, from the free throw line. Routine: bounce twice, eyes on rim, shoot. 10 attempts.
Don't move farther back until close shots are consistent. Range comes from legs, not arms.
