10-Minute Ball Handling Drill
Goal: control the ball with either hand without looking down.
1) Stationary dribbles (2 min)
- Right hand 30 sec, left hand 30 sec, alternating crossover 30 sec, between-the-legs 30 sec
- Stay low, pound the ball hard, eyes up
2) Cone dribbling (4 min)
- Set 5 cones in a line, 4 feet apart
- Dribble through with crossover at each cone. 4 reps right-hand dominant, 4 reps left-hand dominant
3) Full-court moves (2 min)
- Dribble the length of the court (or driveway): crossover at half, behind-the-back at the 3-point line, finish with a layup
4) Weak hand only (2 min)
- Everything with the non-dominant hand. This is where real improvement happens
The best ball handlers never look at the ball. Practice with your eyes on a target (the rim, a partner, a spot on the wall).
